Title: "Bull Figure"
Artist: Tina Folks (Patchogue, NY)
ceramic, 14" tall
East End artist Tina Folks has been working with clay for over 25 years. However, during the last 4 years Tina has felt that her ceramic work has had a unique and spiritually inspired purpose: to explore the ancient archetypes of animals and their meanings represented in indigenous cultures and how they relate to her current life’s experience. While working in this direction, Tina has come to learn a lot more about power animals and their medicine and how they can be guides for us in our daily lives. As with this new ceramic sculpture, Horse Totem, at times the artist has felt like she has been exploring a forgotten culture. “My work finally feels authentic and this is very exciting." www.tinafolks.com -

Title: "Brockway Pond, New Hampshire"
Artist: Bryan Gutman (Patchogue, NY)
12" x 12", oil on canvas
"Brockway Pond, New Hampshire" is a wonderful example of painting directly from nature. As a local artist, Bryan’s keen eye for color has inspired him for many years to paint scenes usually around tributaries, ponds and creeks. Since the foliage closest to the water changes the earliest, Bryan starts as soon as mid-September visiting his favorite spots to monitor their autumnal changes. The artist completes most of his compositions in “plein-air”(painting on location) while surrounded by the sounds of nature and natural light. The fleeting beauty of bright reds, oranges and golden yellows are interpreted with exuberance in his work. He has remained committed to painting since completing his MFA degree from Brooklyn College in 1984. Bryan Gutman shares a home studio with his wife, ceramic artist Tina Folks in Patchogue. -
Robert Berks "Einstein"
sculpture in cast stone with an acrylic grey base
8" tall
Artist: Robert Berks (1922 – 2011)
Value: $1,500Robert Berks "Einstein"
sculpture in cast stone with an acrylic grey base
8" tall
Artist: Robert Berks (1922 – 2011)
Value: $1,500
Robert Berks is best known for his sculptured portraits, private and public. His public works cover a broad cross section of human achievement: science, government and politics, art and entertainment, labor and industry, and humanitarianism. His monuments range from the 8 foot John F. Kennedy head in Washington’s Kennedy Center to the 24-foot homage to Carolus Linnaeus, father of modern botany. His monument of Albert Einstein is one of Washington’s most visited landmarks. Berks also devoted a major portion of his creative time to engineering, design, and to the definition of visual and sensory perception in the understanding and creation of works of art. He donated much of his professional and personal time to communicating these skills to physically and emotionally challenged persons. Berks was one of the small group that conceived and enabled the East End Arts Council. His credo was “Art is the best way of doing everything.” -

In its pre-fired state, it can be molded, sculpted, brushed and/or embellished, then detailed and refined in preparation for firing. Fired at temperatures upward of 1250ºF, anything organic, including the clay binder, burns away and fuses the silver leaving an objet d'art of .999 pure silver. The fused silver is polished and given an enhancing patina and then polished again. This piece is signed by the artist and the chain and clasp are sterling silver. -
