Eleni Prieston

JEWELRY
Artist, goldsmith Eleni Prieston knows "the truth of words and ideas lie in actions".
'Objects for life' satisfy her criteria that 'the maker must have his or her hand in the work'. The mark of the hand is what distinguishes manufactured work from handmade work. Objects that carry meaning and quality, as a result of what the creator has invested, heightens satisfaction, lessening the desire for 'more'. It is perhaps the greenest statement one can make.
Drawing on her years as gallery curator, store owner (previously, Electra Jewelry Bridgehampton, NY – a fine gold jewelry store in the Hamptons representing studio jewelers) and now the artisan store simply called  m a d e , Eleni is attracted to people who are passionate about what they do. Whether a ceramic plate, a steel container, a silk scarf or a handmade fiber book, the work is eclectic and often includes a vintage treasure. Driven and skilled, these artisans communicate through their chosen medium. Their message is usually deeper than merely one of production.
The ability to commission Eleni herself to hand make a piece of jewelry for you just adds to the dimension of this Hampton gem. Alloying the gold, drawing the wire and rolling out the sheet to fabricate your vision is where the fun begins! Her work has been sold internationally and represented in galleries around the country for nearly 40 years. Having a Gemological Institute Certification in Diamonds allows her to source the best diamonds and create the most satisfying engagement rings. Her classical Neo-Byzantine style can be made in the traditional high karat (22k) gold that she customarily uses or you can work together to create a piece in another metal. Re-use, Re-cycle, Re-mount!
