What I have always felt in Jamaica is closeness to spirit. When I paint Rastafari people. I am painting a people who are taking a serious stand for truth, for righteousness, for justice, for peace and love, and for their African culture. I love to paint people who inspire me, and for me, Rastas symbolize a new direction for humanity, one that is principled and uncompromising and compassionate. At a time when governments fund weaponry and wars with money which could be used instead to provide clean drinking water and food for the entire world population, it is time for a spiritual revolution.
Elizabeth Malunowicz
I create out of a need to process my thoughts, beliefs and observations. The canvas is an intimate space to wander, meditate and contemplate. I am moved by the human condition and the natural world, and my work reflects that range. Each painting brings new challenges.
