Biography

John Hansen (1896-1970)
At age 15 , John Hansen boarded a steamer from Denmark to the United States. He called Long Island his home for most of his life and pasted away in Florida in 1970. 50 years a Master Bricklayer, he was majorly involved in the construction of the Campanile at Jonas Beach in the 1930’s during the WPA. Never fully credited for the Mosaic in the Central Mall it still exists today as a tribute to his craftsmanship. A self taught artist, these 3 drawings express his attention to detail and his pursuit for perfection.
